For those of you who dont know, GOW COO is a PSP exclusive GOW game, and takes place before the original GOW on Ps2. So, if you havent played it yet, lets see what all the fuss is about.

The storyline is rather basic, but is more than adequate to give Kratos reason to mission around the countryside dismembering enemies and annihilating boxes full of red orbs. The Temple Of Helios which raises the sun has fallen out of the sky, allowing Morpheus, the God of Sleep, to usher in an era of continual slumber. It is up to Kratos to find the reason for this, and the journey will take him first through the Temple and then straight into the depths of Hades. I’d rather not spoil the plot, but will say that it really does expose some of the difficult decisions Kratos has to make, and his mistreatment at the hands of the gods.

I have heard a few people complain about the games’ controls on the PSP, but I can’t really say that I had any problems at all. The control system is very well thought out, and providing the fact that you memorise all the moves, becomes very fun and easy to play. What I don’t understand though, is why when you are in the middle of slicing an enemies face apart, they don’t recoil and simple continue moving forward. If you watch their movements though, you will know which of Kratos moves’ to use at which time. These aren’t even serious issues, and overall the game engine and gameplay are superb!

In terms of scale, this must be one of the biggest games ever to land on the PSP. You are not merely running through corridors, there are many areas which seem massive, even on the PSP. The design team really did an excellent job of making the gamer feel that it is a large experience.

If you have a PSP, this is really a game that you have to get your hands on. It is a shame that we don’t see more games like this on the PSP. This is one of those games that really flaunts the consoles’ massive potential.

Absolutely awesome game!
And I agree with this article, especially the controls.

Though I tended to hate how the QTE seemed to play out with the exact same combinations all the time… that made things a tad easier.

I agree, but Im not a big fan of the QTE anyways, so I was just glad to beat the bosses and get it over with. Point taken though.
